Our history
It all began with Umberto Nobile, Massimo’s grandfather, a name that has always had great importance in the world of luxury fragrances. Since the early 1930s he has been the representative of Nina Ricci’s perfumes and in 1942, in the midst of the Second World War, he decided to open a perfumery for his wife in Rome. It became a family tradition: Massimo’s father, Benito, did the same for his wife in Naples and also Massimo’s brother, who fell in love with a Tuscan woman, opened a perfumery for his wife. Moved by the love for beautiful things and the passion handed down from father to son, Massimo has done something more. It all started with an idea that Massimo has had in his mind and heart for years, an idea that is getting stronger and bigger as time goes by: you can try to hide it but an idea must follow its flow. Thanks to the passion for the world of perfumery acquired in his family and his decades of experience in the great Chanel maison, in 2004, he decided to create with his wife Stefania Giannino a brand that fully represented Italian elegance all over the world. We have never followed trends: the main example is that in 2011, when the western world of perfumery lost its mind to agarwood, Nobile 1942 launched La Danza delle Libellule, a vanilla perfume, which became our best seller all over the world. What is important is to maintain our sober elegance, which lasts over time, to meet the expectations of our customers. The first perfume was Pontevecchio, created in 2004 and distributed in 2005, and marked the entry of Nobile 1942 into the new millennium.

Cuddled, cuddled and loved dolls, a projection of everyday life inserted into a fantasy world.
Talking to an inanimate object is a way to express unconscious thoughts and to exorcise inner monsters.
The doll can become an object on which to pour one’s love, with which to escape and compensate for one’s deficiencies.
The clash between the real and the unreal succeeds in creating a totally surreal world; thus was born La Stanza delle Bambole, a flowery perfume, falsely innocent, softly sensual, bursting out like a whispered scream.
Head: mandarin, bergamot, milk.
Heart: hawthorn, orange blossom, talc notes, ylang ylang.
Base: sandalwood, vanilla, tonka bean, musky notes.

The secret will remain hidden in a treasure chest within us
Hide a secret! There is nothing more natural because no one, not even science, can ever delve into our minds and hearts. Even the truth machine is not infallible.
Hidden and unsettling truths lurk imperturbably in our subconscious and force us to manipulate reality to make it perfect in the eyes of others.
Behind the illusion of knowing others and laying ourselves bare through the images and words spent on social media is the clear evidence that what we write or what we read is a mirror of what we would like to be and not of what we really are.
Evil, symbolised in this perfume by the apple, the fruit of sin par excellence, perceptible in the head of the fragrance and followed by a sinuous incense, lurks in each one of us and we keep it in check: envy, cowardice, contempt, hatred can lead us, if exasperated, to unimaginable and unconfessable acts.
The secret remains hidden in a treasure chest within us and only comes out when we talk to ourselves in front of a mirror: because we cannot escape from ourselves alone.
Unless a tempting devil releases the secret from its chains.

Everything can be translated into numbers, and in Naples they know it well, only of course they have to be the right ones, the ones with which one hopes to receive the kiss of Lady Luck, also because it is said that she does not see very well.
In the 19th century Naples became the capital of what we know today as the ‘Gioco del lotto’ and to play the right numbers the choice was one and only one: to turn to the Smorfia, ‘the book of dreams’.
This book consists of 90 numbers and is based on the belief that there is a correspondence between dreams and numbers: everything has a symbolic meaning and reality itself is a set of hidden meanings to be interpreted.
Obviously, everything is closely linked to the divine and supernatural dimension, because it is often saints, the Madonna or deceased loved ones who dictate the numbers in dreams, giving a gift to those left on earth.

In the magical atmosphere of the magnificent‘ Florence of the de’ Medici, comes a perfume with a strongly evocative name.
The Florentine Iris is again the star of the fragrance, but in a deliciously feminine expression.
Catherine de’ Medici cleverly wore perfume on her gloves and on her body: in this way she avoided the odours of other people, who did not regularly wash themselves in those days. This gestuelle of hers was invented by Renato Bianco (or, as he was called by the French: René le Florentin) her personal and trusted perfumer, whom she followed to the court in France after her marriage. In addition, he had invented several ways of wearing perfume especially for her: including the famous ‘perfumed pomegranate’, a special spherical jewel to be worn around the neck or on the belt.
Top notes: bergamot, mandarin, coriander seeds.
Middle notes: iris, jasmine, Bulgarian rose.
Base notes: white musk, amber woods, sandalwood.
Nobile 1942 – Cafè Chantant ml.75 – Edp
An interpretation of vanilla in its most sensual shade, perfect for the evening. The inspiration comes from the golden age, from the Belle Époque in the 19th century. The ‘Chantants’ were charming singers in those cafés, frequented also by women who amused themselves by imitating them in their movements and by wearing the same antics that made their men lose their heads. In Italian slang, ‘chantant’ has become ‘sciantosa’ which is a type of extreme and flirtatious femininity. The powdery heart notes evoke the atmosphere and smells of these cafés.
Top notes: black cherry, laurel
Heart notes: heliotrope, iris, marshmallow
Base notes: benzoin, patchouli, vanilla, musk.
Nobile 1942 – Levante ml.75 – Edp

Base notes: vanilla, caramel, benzoin, white musk.
Nobile 1942 – Patchouli Nobile ml.75 – Edp
It does not matter whether someone likes it or not, the important thing is to know that this fragrance can be very masculine, but worn by a woman it becomes elegant, enveloping.
It is like a high heel: you cannot wear it every day, but it is always fascinating. An emotional journey: a return to the origins following our primordial instincts. In the Sunday Times, in November 2009, when Patchouli Nobile was launched, Luca Turin, the most famous and popular critic in the perfume world, called it ‘one of the 10 most interesting fragrances at the moment’. How can we disagree?
Warning. It is advisable to spray this fragrance on the skin and not on mouillettes. Why? The maceration of our patchouli lasts more than six months. Only when sprayed on the skin can we appreciate all the incredible olfactory facets of this fragrance.
Top notes: lemon, white pepper, fresh notes, incense.
Middle notes: jasmine, patchouli, Gaiac wood, Cistus. Base notes:
Amber notes, labdanum, tonka bean, sandalwood, patchouli, oakmoss.
Nobile 1942 – Sandalo Nobile ml.75 – Edp
The intoxicating smell of spices such as saffron and cumin escapes from the sacks piled up in the warehouses, ready to fill the wagons heading to the market on the day that is about to dawn, and perfumes the ambience barely illuminated by the dim light of dawn.
Soaking in the warmth of the water, watching the vapours impregnated with sandalwood and cedarwood essence form clouds of smoke, softened by the benzoin of siam. Feeling the loosening of muscles and the easing of tension, the mind surrenders to the beauty of our experiences, affections and emotions, held together as the gurjum binds the flowery iris to the precious fig wood, like mist that envelops us in a tender embrace and pleasantly fills our nostrils.
The fleeting moment that makes us one with mother nature and makes us face a new day with serenity.
Top notes: saffron, cumin.
Middle notes: iris, dico, gurjum balsam
Base notes: benzoin from Siam, white sandalwood, cedarwood.
Nobile 1942 – Sentiero degli Dei ml.75 – Edp
The Path of the Gods is one of the most famous and beautiful hiking trails on the Mediterranean coast because of the marvellous views between Bomerano and Nacelle, small villages scattered along the Amalfi coast, a famous part of the south coast of Sorrento.
This incredible trail, where the peaks of the Lattari mountains stand out against the blue sea towards the island of Capri, still tells myths and legends to those who inhabit these places and to those who visit them.
In fact, the name of this beautiful path derives from Greek mythology and speaks of the encounter between Ulysses and the Sirens.
Legend places the islands of the Sirens in Li Galli, the small archipelago located west of Positano. Legend has it that Ulysses had himself tied to the mast to resist the tempting song of the Sirens, and that the Olympian gods descended to earth to prevent their favourite from being shipwrecked; but, having come from the east, in their haste to save Ulysses, they ended up getting lost on that marvellous coastline, leaving a trail of cliffs and beautiful landscapes that now take the name ‘Costiera Amalfitana’.
Top notes: lemon, fruity bouquet, green leaves
Middle notes: jasmine, rose, iris, orange blossom
Base notes: woody accord, amber, musk, tonka bean
Nobile 1942 – Edp A’ Grazia 75 ml
A sophisticated, original, unique and sensual fragrance.
A’ Grazia is a unisex fragrance by Nobile 1942 that celebrates sensuality in all its nuances. A fragrance that evokes images of flower gardens, warm skin and intense sensations and has its roots in the rich and colourful Neapolitan tradition, like the ‘companion’ perfumes Anti Malocchio and La Dea Bendata. The cult of San Gennaro, dispenser of ‘graces’ (i.e. benefits, advantages), has always been rooted in Neapolitan culture and is still very much felt by Neapolitans today. ‘San Gennaro, you know me, if you could give me the grace,’ says Massimo Troisi in one of his most famous sketches.
Top notes: an explosion of vitality with bergamot, davana, cumin and rose oxide, an aromatic cocktail that awakens the senses and paves the way for a more intense heart.
Middle notes: a floral and fruity heart with rose, cypriol, chocolate, an unusual mix that creates a surprising harmony between sweetness, sensuality and depth.
Base notes: a woody and ambery base with sandalwood, amber, raspberry, leather, vanilla and musk, giving the fragrance a sensual and enveloping persistence.
